GIS-Pi

This is my big project for the year. GIS-Pi will be a GIS data entry tablet. It will integrate a RPi, RPi camera, GPS, digital compass, accelerometer and the upcoming RPi 7"+ touch LCD screen.
It will allow me to walk around in the bush recording GPS coordinates and metadata about objects I find out there. I have struggled to find a decent iPhone App that will allow me to walk to multiple waypoints. This will display three or four waypoints at a time and record where I have walked. It will also allow me to take geo-referenced photos.
I can do this via iPhone Apps, but there is no decent one App, so I am left struggling with using three or four different Apps. I can see this becoming bigger than Ben Hur, but I do enjoy these sorts of projects - adding features as they are dreamed up!
