3V to 12V MOSFET Switch

Post by parkview » Tue Feb 08, 2022 1:55 pm

At our December SW Makers meeting someone wanted to use a relay to switch something on/off. Relays are big and bulky and can draw a relatively large current to toggle the armature. It didn't take long to whip up a simple, small (14mm x 23mm) MOSFET switching PCB. This is designed to plug into a breadboard and switch 3V to 5V through to 12V loads with up to an amp of current, although I think you would struggle to put an amp through a breadboard connection ;-)

It comes with a Picoblade male connector soldered in place and a 2-pin 0.1" pinheader can be soldered on as well. The switch connector has a diode across it to help prevent back-EMF if it's switching a small motor or inductive load.
