CNC Spindle Update

Post by seaton » Sat Jan 21, 2017 8:49 am

Hi All,

Ive just replaced the motor on my spindle to get get more RPM, before I was getting around 10,000RPM, for drilling PCB with the small drills is not really enough, increasing th spindle speed will also allow me to increase my feeds. So I swapped out the motor with a brushless 3650-2050KV motor, capable of 48,000KRPM @ 24V, I'm running at 12V and with current current pully arrangement will get to that RPM, however from initial tests I think 30,000 rpm is the safe limit, if I go over the drive belts start doing some strange things as you can see in the video below :)
