I love rainbows and in a sun filled kitchen window, I have placed some cut crystal balls on top of some bottles that Diane has placed there. These create morning rainbows all over the room. There is nothing like some spread-spectrum goodness early in the morning!
Diane now wants to move the bottles, so I need a way of mounting or hanging the crystals. This turned into a nice quick Boxing Day project.
I quickly sketched up a 3D printable spring loaded assembly:
While the Felix printer was busy printing the PLA parts, I purchased a 6.3mm x 2000mm galvanised metal rod and two ID: 8.9mm x OD: 11.0mm springs from Bunnings. I also printed out some Ninjflex feet to stop the rod assembly from slipping on the glass window linings:
It all come together rather well. I could have used a better colour that blends in better. Maybe one day I might re-print the PLA parts using Bamboo filament.
