Frozen Model B

Post by Jubbp » Sat Jul 19, 2014 9:38 pm

Hi All,

I have a model b that has been on the patio measuring temperatures and recently It has stopped. Brought it inside tonight to give it a new printed cover and it boots to the login screen but nothing after that. Typing on the keyboard is not showing up, only the red power light is lit and the LAN lights don't come on.

I suspected a prob with the SD and OS but I changes the SD card to a known working one and the same problem.

unplugged everything but the keyboard and the HDMI to no avail.

Keyboard is working on the other working pi.

Is it time to buy a new pi?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

PJ

anything interesting on the login screen? You could video the text as it scrolls up the screen so you can replay at your leisure.

Did you leave a script running via /etc/rc.local and therefore it's not taking keyboard input? Been there done that before. Need to put the script into the background by tagging a & (ampersand) at the end of the line. :D

Have you tried a freshly imaged SD card? First thing I would test.

Does the SD card wobble a bit, ie: is it making full contact with the SD card pins?

Tried a different PSU? Measure the voltage at the RPi 5V Test point.

Could morning dew effected/damage the board?

This is my fear.

Tried a new SD card that I took out of my working system. No joy

Might be a new model B+ on the way. :)

For a laugh, try powering it from the +5V on the GPIO. I had an issue with a polyfuse in low temp on a pi once....
