Is the website and/or forum hosted on a local or remote server? And if local, what hardware, OS, software etc?
oh, and where did you get the JavaScript and HTML for the forum, and how are accounts stored/managed?

Phillip will comment on the Forum site (as he looks after it), or answer your comment on Sat. at the meeting.

The main website is hosted as a Weebly Cloud framework.

A few of us have had a lot of experience in building and hosting websites, and we would all be happy to answer any questions you might have at the Sat. meeting.

WHy is the forum not through a secure port? cloudflare offers a free certificate, which I have personally found to be very useful

Hi DJ,

the costs are donated by and maintained on a volunteer basis by busy people, as there are no user fees collected for the SW Makers. We haven't had any issue as yet (not saying something might happen down the road). It's backed up regularly, so it's a low risk issue. Of course, one should NEVER use the same username and password combo for other sites.

So in preparation for Paul's upcoming international excursions, I thought it was worth the effort to get the forum encrypted so he can have some piece of mind when logging in.

I have now added a free lets encrypt SSL cert to the site and you should now be using it (check the browser url)

I haven't been able to get the auto updating working yet so I will have to renew it manually every 90 days. I'm sure I'll get it auto-renewing at some stage :)

Bummer! You mean I now have to Post while I am back packing around Asia?

PS: Thanks Phillip. SSL is cool if it can be done with zero cost and labour.

That looks like a filter on your schools network.

They are not aware(haven't indexed) our site so they block it to be safe.

Try forcing it to https:// and see if that makes a difference.
