Hey, does anyone know of any local places that sell cheaper arduino's or do I have to go to dx.com or aliexpress to find the cheap ones.

Depends on how desperate you are, ie: $$$ vs. time to ship
Yes, China is cheaper.

what type are you after, I have a few ones from china I can sell to you at cost. ones I have are the micro/mini all with 328P processor

I have both types:
Nano - Has onboard usb adapter
Pro-Mini - needs USB adapter
also pro-micro which is different processors aka Mini Leonardo
