Gimbal Motor

Post by DylanM » Thu Oct 01, 2015 3:40 pm

Hi,
All the motors on my gimbal have three unorganised wires that are all coloured black. I need to find out which one is which before I use it with my controller and I was wondering if there was a way to do this. The motors also are unbranded.

Thanks
Dylan

At a guess I'd say it's a BLDC motor, so you can hook it up anyway you like, and then just reverse 2 of the 3 wires to change the direction or do it in the software setup on the controller most likely.

Seems you've picked up a good project Dylan.

Will be great to see the progress on Saturday.

Yes as BeJay has mentioned just hook up the motor any way you like and test, if incorrect rotation reverse two wire and will work. They are brushless motor and are similar to ones used in quadcopter.

Hi I haven't got my new controller and I might not get it for a bit. It seems the aliexpress seller went on holiday and didn't send it or something to that extent. I do have another controller that may work problem is I still don't have a battery, I went to battery world and got a 12v battery although I think it had been on the shelf for a while because when I got it it was dead. So my project could end up taking quite a while.

Hi Dylan,

what is the battery voltage now? What was the voltage after charging? Otherwise, bring it along to the meeting this Sat. and we can have a look at it for you. I will bring my 12V battery along as well.

Would have brought it to the meeting but we had to take the cat to the vet and I'm allergic to cat fur so I ended up having an allergy attack and could not come.

Hey battery voltage when I bought it was 12v and then a week after charging it had dropped to 0.5v. Good news as well I recieved the STorM32 controller board along with joystick and 2 gyros and I should be going to battery world to get a rc battery (i think LiPo) this time.will update on my progress later

Yes, the battery is 100% stuffed! Try for a refund?

Most definitely. But I will try my hardest for a refund. I think the battery had been on the shelf too long.
