my new 18W 200mm x 10mm cool white bar LED just arrived today from dx.com: http://www.dx.com/p/18w-1710-1890lm-650 ... 14v-213269
It's a beauty!
hopefully it will be enough for my Doc-Pi project. Here it is all lit up in an action shot:
Although it's 200mm long, the LED section is only 160mm long. It does have versatile 2 x 5mm long mounting slots. This means you don't have to be super accurate in designing up a mounting bracket.
The operating voltage is 12V to 14V, so easy to run from a SLA battery.
I wonder how it would look to only have one or two of these mounted flush to the ceiling as a source of room lighting
Bar LED's
Re: Bar LED's
not that I know of. Its rated at 12V to 14V, so i can run it straight from a 12V SLA battery. Or, you could run it from a 240V to 12V switched inverter, perhaps something like a dx.com: 273895, which is rated a 20W. It is rather bulky though, at 165mm long, x 20mm high x 30mm wide.
I just had another shipment of 8 different bar LED's arrive today, so I am having fun testing them out.
Instead of mounting a traditional light bulb shaped room light, I wonder what a room would look like if it has a few 18W bar LED's mounted directly flat onto the ceiling
