Re: Free copy of Windows 10 for Raspberry Pi

Well found. Obviously use it 'just for testing'...

I have subscribed and will download it when it is released, but I am not planning on coding for it. I have too many other things to work on. I am just interested in seeing how it runs.

Re: XV11 LIDAR

Did you design the LIDAR unit as well, or did you find that online? Silver colour - I love it. Who needs a lathe when you can just 3D print a look-a-like.

Re: Raspberry Pi GIS Tablet: GIS-Pi

After a bit of a hiatus, this weekend, I started working on the physical layout of the boards. I started with cardboard: Cardboard_Layout2.jpg Ok, so I have a rough layout worked out, now the top: Cardboard_Layout2.jpg I also started on the RPi board to hold all the components together: RPi_Board.jp...

Re: Local Source for 20x20 40x40 slotted Extrusion

Hmm, what are you looking to build :?: It would be nice if it was 1/2 or 1/4 of the price, there is so much I would like to build with it.

Nice find though.

Re: XV11 LIDAR Working

Nice one Stephen. I love the visual representation of the data. I guess the rest of the room is out side of the 2-5m range of the unit? What is the current draw of the Lidar unit?

Re: Robotic Kits

found this review of a cheap US$199 RPi robotic kit: http://www.raspihub.com/go/3caed3fd7dc4 ... 79896a9077 The review claims its $89, but website says $199.

Upgrade the batteries to Li-ion 18650's?

Re: Time lapse setup

Hi Dylan, well done with the code so far. To help troubleshoot things, you could forget about the input/output pins for the moment, and just concentrate on getting the servo moving smoothly, perhaps moving from 0 to 180deg. with a 0.3-0.5 sec pause/delay between each step? Once you have the servo mo...

Re: Raspberry Pi GIS Tablet: GIS-Pi

To start GIS-Pi, I have to start xwindows: startx then double click on LXTerminal icon, change directory and type in: python gis-pi.py There has to be a better way right? Googling around I see that I can auto-run a command when the LXTerminal is opening. I can also create a new shortcut for to do th...

JPG Image Analysis

I saw image analysis software: m this on a RPi Forum last week and now that I have a RPi 2 installed for my GIS-Pi rig, I thought I would have a go at it. The ~ 200MB software package took ages (an hour?) to download from the GIT repository. Building and installing was very quick, with many SSH conn...

Re: Raspberry Pi GIS Tablet: GIS-Pi

GIS-Pi now comes with a System STATUS screen, that hangs off the SETUP screen: setup_status1.jpg This is just a quick way of keeping tabs on various settings. It's interesting that so far everything runs in around 200MB of RAM. I have set the MAP screen to display the battery voltage over in the LH ...

Re: Raspberry Pi GIS Tablet: GIS-Pi

The updated HDMIPi backing plate (fits the RPi 2/B+) turned up recently, so I changed out the old RPi B and fitted the new RPi 2 Model B. What a difference in speed! It boots up faster, remote SSH connections logs in faster and it uses less power! Now, if only they would come out with a 1GB RPi 2 Mo...
