Re: Front Panel Designer - Free

Can it export to a .skp .dae or .stl ? No, however it does export STEP so can then use something else to convert STEP to those formats https://www.schaeffer-ag.de/en/front_panel_designer/the_idea/ The link to the german site (above) has a newer version than the US site, which included the STEP output

Re: Laser Current Meter

Its called Meter by tonne software m I had a license from way back when I did a job for someone and is not that expensive, there is a basic version that will allow single scale. Software is very clunky and not that user friendly but does a reasonable job. It has a number of neat features such as lin...

Re: Apologies for the Downtime

@bejay look at using Letsencrypt (https://letsencrypt.org) free certificates along with certbot (https://certbot.eff.org/) to automatically deploy and renew them, they call them ACME clients. Theres a number of clients for just about every OS/Http Server out there, including IIS. I believe they also do wildcards.

Re: Front Panel Designer - Free

Further to this... Printing allows you to print out a panel to be used as a template for cutting, along with centre holes for drilling, so next thing will be for me to use this to cut out a place on my laser cutters panel using this template for the amp meter. I checked the printed copy and all appe...

Re: Laser Current Meter

to continue with this theme.... I had a day off yesterday and finally got around to adding a current meter to mine. At the moment no box, just hooked it in. I was contemplating a box design, however I think I have enough space on my front control panel and will mount it directly there. Here is the p...

Nice one Paul, Did you use cut or scan mode for the cutouts? The tests I've done int he past for SMD stencils I found scan mode the best.

Re: Learning KiCAD, PCB Production and Soldering

My thoughts are 1) For training sessions I'd wait until v5 has been released (currently 5.0RC2 has just been released for ubuntu) - this is form the dev list I'm on, then I could do a refresher with new features etc. 2) My initial thought of when we spoke was to have a "PCB business card" ...
