Re: Screwing 3D printed parts together

Is this on the right track? m Yes, might be. I called them today for a quote. Turns out they can't sell to WA. Even their phone number doesn't work. I rang the website guy who gave me the correct phone number. I suggested that he update the website, but was told it's too difficult, even after menti...

while these are great people, they only do basic nuts and bolts. I purchased my stash of 1.6-3mm nuts of bolts from them. They don't do any insets.

Screwing 3D printed parts together

This was listed on a recent 3D printer blog last week. I didn't keep the original site URL, perhaps it was via Adafruit? Basically the idea is that you purchase special brass threaded insert that you either press into a specially printed hole with the correct dimensions, or you use a solder4ign iron...

Perth Curtin Robofair - 2014

Hi all, it's on again: 2014 Robofair is on Sunday November 30th 10-2pm and being held at the same place, the Bentley Curtin University: m Last year Stephen and I attended with a small display. My wife and son had fun joining in helping out towards the end. It's still early days, but one of the Robof...

Re: The Future of Pi

Yes, this is an interesting and exciting development. I can see many different boards coming out using this module. Last Jan. at the Perth Linux Australasian conference, I met a Perth guy who was looking to use a RPi as his new cash register system. I pointed out that the RPI B wouldn't be around fo...

Re: Raspberry Uptime

Nope, not even close. I must have had a power failure long enough to take out the UPS (runs a few other things too):

~$ uptime
20:47:08 up 168 days, 32 min

Maybe I need a dedicated UPS for my RPi based home weather station :D

Re: Helmet Orchid Pollinator Study - III

So, here are some not so great photos of our trophy catches. The free version of phpBB only allows 3 photos: Site One: only one found and it was found on the first Sunday visit, so we where pretty stocked. polinator1_sml.jpg Site Two: the rest where found here. One trap had 50 gnats on it, two of wh...

Re: Helmet Orchid Pollinator Study -II

This years plan was to trial a few kinds of different traps, therefore seeing what might work best. They where placed at two locations, some 400m apart. At each location, we placed out traps at various location to see what might work out best. We put them out on a Sat. afternoon and checked the trap...

Helmet Orchid Pollinator Study

Apparently no one really knows what pollinates the native Australian Helmet orchid, Corybas species. July-August is the main flowering season for the plain Helmet orchid - Corybas recurvus, that lives around Busselton. So a Perth guy and myself have set out on a multi year journey to see if we can f...

a while back there was a group or person working on 3D printing circuitry layouts and filling the wire channels with a metallic 3D printed substance. It didn't look as nice or polished as this project though.

I hope so. But once bitten twice shy? From memory they didn't seem that hung up on insurance. Yes, I would like to attend. I contacted last years organiser last month and it sounded like they where going to run it again in Nov. this year.

Re: Science Spectacular - NEWS FLASH!

Re: Link: Cloning a Pi

Hi Phillip, yes, easy to do, just use the same program you used to burn the SD card. In Windows world, you could use 'WinDisk Imager' to read the SD card to a file on your local PC. Some other backup methods to use, is to install the SAMBA server on the RPi, and then mount the RPI shared folder from...

Re: Tablet Computers

I don't mind the speed so much, but the battery management sucks big time. It won't even charge beyond 66%! The battery only lasts around 1-2 hours of run time! Thats what hurts the most with it. I can live with the rest of the faults. I did find a nice free Android SSH client: 'JuiceSSH'. It as all...

Hi Stephen,

you mentioned off-line the other day about a simple switched mode PSU. Can you link in the chip and circuit diagram that your using?

Thanks.
