Non-Newtonian Fluids

I was writing up this forum post on Oscilloscopes and escaping smoke: http://forum.swmakers.org/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=34&p=601#p601 . It reminded me of this adventure... Remember back to the naughty's and watching people run up and down on a pool of non-newtonian fluid ( https://en.wikipedia....

Re: Oscilloscopes

Talking of Oscilloscopes, for the August 2015 meeting, I brought along two old beasts. 1) a 1960's valve based Tektronix 503. We used these in the Navy Electronics training school. I had tried flashing it up before the meeting, but as I had suspected, with it sitting in storage for the last 24 years...

RPi Display Footnote: My initial attempts to use the RPi 2B being powered by the RPi 7" Display AND the RPi camera failed! No matter how I tried taking a photo via the RPi camera, the preview would appear on the screen and the camera red LED would light up and a blank file would be created, but...

Re: Doc-Pi

Apart from mounting the RPi Camera up on top of the LED floodlights, the rest of the base is pretty much completed. It's time to work on the electronics. I had worked on it back in July 2014, but the original breadboard had been subsequently subsumed into two other projects, so I dug out a fresh sma...

Re: Doc-Pi

After a bit of a hiatus, I have spent some time working on the Doc-Pi project. I have now added a two layered base, and hinges for the 3D Printed frame to sit on. This means I now have a number of screws and bolts protruding underneath the base. I pondered how I was going to fit some 15mm deep feet,...

Re: Gimbal Controller

I have purchased a few things from there. Stephen swears by AliExpress. You just have to watch the quantity that your purchasing.

DHL is usually VERY expensive, but fast! Depends on how desperate you are for the part, and is the cost worth it.

Re: Gimbal Controller

I heavily use dx.com with great joy! I love the free shipping No more saving up a wishlist of gear to make one large purchase to beat the 'free shipping' minimum at other sites. Shipping can take up to 6 weeks - which is a bit of a pain. Gear purchased via the AU version of the dx.com website usuall...

Phillip and I displayed at the recent [Sat. 22nd Aug] 2015 SW Science Spectacular show that was held at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre. Artifactory, West Coast Makers and Enkel will now all be attending as well. It should be an interesting room!

Re: Text in FreeCAD

Hi BeJay, always goods to know. One never knows if FreeCAD might enter back into my life as a working tool. I am still using DS Mechanical V:1 and a few weeks ago, I too had a need to enter text into my part: http://forum.swmakers.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=68&p=570#p569 . There are a few tutor...
