Over my holidays I purchased a filastruder and winder to make my own filament or any colour I like
Takes about 24hours to do a Kg of ABS with the 12V supply I have, but will look at replacing with a 19V one

Initial testing
onto something more permanent
The filament made works perfectly well on both of my 3D printer. Currently I'm playing with ABS as this works extremely well. Sizing is 1.75 +/- 0.04mm
After running out of my plastic spools I designed up a cardboard spool that can be easily cut either by hand or laser to suit the amount of filament you want, i.e. 250g, 500g or 1kg.

cutting out from scrap 3mm cardboard
finished spool (250g capacity)
Also mount I designed so I could easily mount the extruder vertically.

Filament Extruder and winder
Re: Filament Extruder and winder
That's turning into a handy little setup there. Love the cardboard spools - innovative and cheep!
Won't the pellet hopper need to be redesigned as well?

That is brilliant! I'll put that on the list of things to make for sure
