Re: Perth Curtin Robofair - 2014

I'm still in to bring along a few things to show and tell. My son and his mates are in FLL this year, so this will be interesting all 'round ;)

Re: Prints we've tried

Nice! http://bjblaster.homedns.org/projects/renewable/hand_power/fax_light/large_slides/IMAG1143.jpg I've been busy modifying a couple of FAXLights I made for the kids to give them a bit more "Light per Wind" with some 3D printed gears. These are 2.15:1 which just fit. I haven't got a pic ...

Re: RasPi Wifi

I think the best utility to use is wicd-curses for wifi. It supports graceful eth0 (wired) handover and you can setup multiple Access Points with ease. If you don't have it do the 'ol $ sudo apt-get install wicd-curses to install it. Next make sure your wifi adapter has been detected using $ dmesg (...

Re: The Future of Pi

I think the Pi platform just needs a standard. The Compute seems to fit it. Crack out a $5 break out board and you have the best of both worlds.

Re: Raspberry Uptime

Still that is not bad ! Mine runs off my 12V network, which in theory shouldn't loose power until the battery bank or the sun dies... Batteries are second hand, dated 2003 and 11 years later it's still pretty good. If only I had a pi back then What are you using for your weather station? I'm using p...

Raspberry Uptime

Hi Guys, I was curious about the longest uptime on a pi. I have one running my "Backyard Radio" home media server and it's been up for: http://bjblaster.homedns.org/projects/electronics/vintage_radio/backyard_radio/pi/uptime.png Can you beat that? http://bjblaster.homedns.org/projects/elec...

Sweet!

Has anyone made up some sort of lanyard 3D printed thing so we can be official SW makers?

Re: Science Spectacular

So what's the gernal rundown for the Science Spectacular?
Who is bringing what?
I'm wondering, so I can get an idea of what to bring down other than my 3D printer and Picade?

What hands on kiddie things do you have? I'm thinking of making something during the week if I get a chance.

Well it seems the more water you have, the better off you will be: Here is my original system overview before I added a 500L subtank and an IBC for the trout. These are all joined to give a total of 2500L. Tee'd in the IBC to my existing rig. This is my 6 monthly tank - used for trout in winter and ...

Re: ATtiny85 Backpack

My whole logger system runs on PICAXEs :) I liked the built in RS232 that was very handy for me back then, now I'm reinventing the wheel so I can have everything on ethernet instead. They are a great stepping stone to micros and FPGAs in general ;)

ATtiny85 Backpack

I don't know if you guys have seen this neat hack or not, but it sure is great for those who use Arduinos and aren't proficient in low level hex or assembler/machine code. Instead of using PIC508M's for small stuff I've (maybe become lazy) really like using the arduino's C style IDE so this was a ne...

Re: Simplify3D review

I have this issue where I like to use open source software first, so I can really see what's going on. If I can't get it to work, then I will go for a closed source "point and click" thing. I do like the ability to hack it up a bit. Here is a good example of a useful hack to me: http://bjb...
