Studying Helmet orchid Polinators
I was looking to build an automated orchid pollinator photography rig: RPi_Polinator-trap.jpg however, I have since realised that the suspected pollinator I am currently looking at at the moment is a fungus gnat. It's about the same size or a bit smaller than a mosquito, so I think it would be strug...
GIS-Pi
This is my big project for the year. GIS-Pi will be a GIS data entry tablet. It will integrate a RPi, RPi camera, GPS, digital compass, accelerometer and the upcoming RPi 7"+ touch LCD screen. It will allow me to walk around in the bush recording GPS coordinates and metadata about objects I fin...

Endoscope-Pi
This should be a simple-ish project that couples a RPi, endoscope and a PiTFT LCD screen together. This will allow me to walk up to a hole (spider, bull ant nest, beetle etc), in the ground, stick the endoscope into it, press a button to take a photo of whats down there, then display it onto the 2.8...
Doc-Pi
One project I have on the go, is a Raspberry Pi controlled document photographer. The rig will allow me to photograph 6"x4" photographs and up to A4 documents. There will be a glass lid that then closed, will trigger two 18W bar LEDs to turn on, and the RPi camera to take a photo. The LEDs...

Re: My Felix is on the way.
yes, it's a 12V LED bar ~ 420mm long that I had lying around and had previously ordered from dx.com. I just run it from the 12V 3D printer PSU lines. I run mine without the switch as I have the wires coming out the wrong side.

Re: My Felix is on the way.
Stephen has covered off most things.
Apart from the test prints, my first print jobs where the Felix tweezers holder: http://forum.felixprinters.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=97 then the spool holder kit (this is found in the Felix download section). Don't forget the LED bar as well: http://forum.felixprinters.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=105

You can either post the config here, so we can have a look at it, or wait till Sat. when we can check it out then. We would also need to see the output of 'dmesg' (this is a log of text that is produced when the RPi boots up).

Hi Dylan. Not all are compatable, as Linux might not have the drivers for it. I use this one: http://au.element14.com/element14/wipi/ ... dp/2133900

Re: Science Spectacular
Nice find on the thingiverse part there Stephen. I will have a try at printing it this evening. Ok, I had a try at just the std stl file using Simplify3D, but at 0.85mm thick, it didn't like to be peeled off a hot bed. Also, Simplify3D didn't like to process some of the finer details. Looks cool tho...

Re: 3D Printing Software
Stephen put me onto Simplfy3D and I get great prints from it. I do sometimes struggle with it's over hang control. There seems to be a bug with the manual control section, but hopefully the next version will fix that. I have had a look at Kisslicer, but it's pretty full on, so I am hoping Stephen ca...

Re: A LOGO for SWMakers
yes, I like the open hardware type cog as well. We could have multiple logos for different things. One should be easily and quickly 3D printed, which the cog should be.

Re: Sparkfun AVC 2014
yes, I would be interested as well. I think it would be better to hold it as a separate event. That way we could start small and build up over time. I am thinking of the OHS issues too. I think that was one of the learning lessons Sparkfun found. If it's just us, the first event might be just Stephe...

Re: Science Spectacular
Yes, I have submitted the paperwork two weeks ago and had a meeting with one of the teachers last week. She said we should be able to have the same room as we had before. It also comes with tables and power etc. It should be a good event again. Last year there where some 5,000+ visitors in 7 hours. ...

Hi Dylan,
I will bring along a spare WiFi dongle that I know works, so we can test the config at the July meeting.
Did you get a RPi Model A or model B - the one with the Ethernet connection?
Paul

Re: Tell us about yourself
Hi, I started pulling apart valve TV's back in the early '70s, along with playing with chemicals, glass blowing and high voltage gear. The folks are amazed I survived my teens. I managed to buy the first computer that came on the market (or at least I saw), in Freo back in 1979 and have never looked...
